The old greenhouse

Ahhhh....Spring is coming...c’mon sunshine!  This will be the first full Spring in our new home - so exciting!  Once the sunshine makes a more regular appearance we will be turning our focus to gardening.  Gardening is probably one of the most exciting parts of Spring for us. We want to eventually put in a Greenhouse but we will need to wait until we properly plan and prepare our landscaping which will probably take a few years.  In the meantime we can still reminisce on the greenhouse we built at our previous home.

We started with a simple wooden base

Then the framing continued, the plastic went up, and finally; in went the plants.  I planted way too many , then removed the weakest ones, and gave a few to friends and family.  The plants included tomatoes, peppers, arugula, green onions, cucumbers and many more

The tomatoes did quite well

So did the cucumbers, here's a picture of them in the earlier stages of growth

I was given some sunflower seeds at a friend’s wedding, they had a spring wedding and gave various seeds as wedding favors (how cute!)  On a whim I planted a few next to the green house and they grew taller than me, then eventually grew to be taller than the Greenhouse!

We enjoyed that old house and loved that old Greenhouse. I designed it with the help of a few library books, and had the numbers and design verified by my Dad, husband and Father-in-law. My Dad made some improvements to my design and it was built by all of us (mostly by our Dads, as they had more construction know-how).

What is your favorite thing about Spring?

A deck of GREETING cards

Hooray!  It's my first blog post - Oh happy day!

Today is a rest day for me (cue the lullaby and chirping crickets).  I've been feeling under the weather these past few days. But thankfully now I'm feeling like I'm on my way to recovery.  I thought starting something fresh and new was a great way to celebrate feeling better -  so voila: blog!

I think that every new start deserves a proper greeting. But if I introduced you to all the random topics that interest me, this blog post would consist of a mile long list with everything from Home renos to face painting to tea drinking, and a whole lot in between.  So I will select only one of my interests to share today, and I'll squirrel the rest away for another time.

...and the winner is....

making greeting cards!....my title probably gave it away, didn't it?  Anywhoooo...here is a small selection of cards I've made recently:

The sentiment and the truck stamped images are from a company called hero arts
The sun is from Stampendous
The clouds are from a C.C Designs Rubber Stamp Sugarplums set called Scenery Scene
Here's one I made for my Dad's recent retirement

I made this card for a former co-worker last year.  I used to tell him that he was such a snazzy dresser.  But he would say that others tell him he dresses like an old man.  He was probably a thirty-something.

I made this a while ago, but I believe I cut and glued parts of a few stamped images together. I think the main stamp image of the guy is an amalgamation of two different stamps from a company called the greeting farm  the stamp of the guy is called "Jeremy" and I cut out the hat from a stamped image from the same company called "Hello Ian".  The lamppost image is from a company called flourishes

Ever since my co-workers saw that card, I have been voluntold to be the official card maker for my office, haha!  As long as I'm not busy with other things I don't mind .  Each and every one of my co-workers is so kind to me and it's a great opportunity to reflect some of that kindness back to them.

Now my list of cards to make is getting longer and longer, so I try to get a few done in advance, as inspiration strikes and time permits.

Here's a sneak peek at one I made for a co-worker who plays, watches and all-around loves sports.

Stamp is from the greeting farm - Edward
The soccer net stamp I used is from a company called Magnolia Rubber Stamps and I believe the name of the stamp is "goal"

And another sneak peek at a co-worker's card:
The main stamped image is from a company called bildmalarna
and the image is called Frollie Frog Birthday

I'll share one last sneak peak at a co-worker's card.  I don't know about you, but I am looking forward to Spring and Summer, and I think this card really shows it:

The Lady and Park Bench stamps I used are from a set from C.C. Designs 7
The Rustic window box image is from stampingbella

Enjoy your day!
